Patrick M. McLain

Patrick M. McLain, Esq. is Vice President, Federal Government Affairs at GlaxoSmithKline.. He represents GlaxoSmithKline’s Pharmaceutical and other business’ on federal legislative matters. Prior to joining GlaxoSmithKline in 1997, he was Senior Vice President at Rowan & Blewitt, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based consulting firm specializing in issue and crisis management. He specialized in regulatory and legislative issues relating to the pharmaceutical and medical device industries and assisted clients in a wide range of controversies on how to deal responsibly and effectively with public scrutiny. Before Rowan & Blewitt, he served nearly 14 years as counsel to the Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Mr. McLain’s experience with food and drug issues includes conducting numerous hearings about both the safety of specific drugs and devices, and about the FDA approval process. He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Food and Drug Law Institute. Mr. McLain received his BA in business management from the University of Florida and his JD from Stetson University. He is a member of the Florida and the District of Columbia Bars.
